The Service Center for Da Nang Foreign Affairs (SCEDFA) held its annual symposium for Vietnamese employees working for foreign organizations and individuals on the afternoon of October 30th. This year’s program focused on enhancing interpretation skills and sharing experiences in working with foreign organizations and individuals.

“The symposium is organized in the hope of providing the Vietnamese employees with beneficial knowledge and skills in interpretation to fulfill their duty of connecting the relevant foreign organizations and individuals with the City,” said Mr. Tran Hieu, Director of SCEDFA. The COVID-19 situation and a recent natural disaster in Central Vietnam causing problems in attracting investment and implementing projects for a lot of non-governmental organizations and other foreign organizations and agencies was also mentioned in his opening remarks. Considering that, SCEDFA will do its part by supporting foreign organizations and individuals in their development and in overcoming the situations by holding similar symposiums as well as other events.

Attending the symposium, Vice Director of the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs Mrs. Nguyen Thuy Anh reported on the results of the campaigning for non-governmental aid in the first 9 months of the year and highly appreciated the Vietnamese employees’ role in bonding the relationship between their organizations and provincial departments and agencies. She also encouraged them to continue to help the City to establish new partnerships and to effectively implement non-governmental projects in its fields of interest.

Moving to its main part, the symposium listened attentively to an overview of interpretation, some features of the interpreting activities in foreign affairs, and some methods to improve interpreting skills from Mrs. Ho Hoai Ha, Head of the International Cooperation Division - Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs. The participants also had a discussion about the topic and shared personal experiences in related fields of work which enriched their knowledge in interpretation.
